Committee Descriptions

The Missouri Association of Student Financial Aid Personnel is seeking members willing to actively serve MASFAP through committee membership. Listed below are MASFAP committees. Their success depends upon the members who volunteer to serve our organization. If you are interested in serving, please volunteer.

Archives - Keeps and periodically displays historical records and photographs of MASFAP functions, events and activities.

Associate Membership Concerns - Establishes and maintains effective relationships between schools, lending institutions, and other financial aid-related organizations.

Association Governance & Legal Issues - Advises the Executive Board on legal issues that impact governance of the association.

Awards - Recognizes members who have made significant contributions to the Association and the financial aid profession.

Budget and Finance - Administers financial matters for the association, including preparation of the annual budget, tax returns, investments, etc.

Communications - Prepares the ‘MASFAP Monitor’ quarterly and also sends monthly updates to the membership. Keeps the membership abreast of news and events within the organization as well as manages social media.

Corporate Support - Identifies and carries out opportunities for MASFAP’s Associate members to support joint goals and objectives.

Early Awareness - Develops financial aid awareness projects geared to middle school (and younger) students and their families.

Leadership Development Program - Promotes excellence and advocacy in the financial aid industry.

Legislative - Serves as liaison between MASFAP and the governmental agencies involved with legislation that impacts financial aid programs.

Membership - Maintains MASFAP membership database, prepares the annual membership directory data on the website, and promotes membership in the association.

Missouri Award - Chaired by the past-president of the Association, committee members are made up of previous Missouri Award recipients and seek to recognize an individual from Missouri who has contributed to the field of financial aid.

Newcomer/Welcome - Establishes special recognition and programs to integrate new members of MASFAP into the organization.

Nominations/Elections - Identifies the slate of nominees for the MASFAP general election, held by electronic vote.

Professional Development - Develops programs and materials to provide financial aid professionals and support staff with current/pertinent information to improve their skills and knowledge.

Program - Plans and coordinates all sessions and activities for the fall conference.

Research - Investigates, compiles, and reports financial aid-related data/studies for the Executive Board and the membership.

Site - This committee makes logistical arrangements for all conferences and Executive Board meetings.

Technology - Oversees the technological needs of the association.
