MASFAP frequently partners with the Missouri Department of Higher Education and Workforce Development to foster financial literacy and promote access to higher education.


Free In-Person Financial Aid Workshops for High School Counselors through MASFAP

MASFAP’s Early Awareness Committee is planning in-person high school counselor workshops around Missouri this fall. We are excited to announce we have confirmed 14 locations! These are free workshops focused on pertinent financial aid topics. We encourage high school counselors and college access professionals to attend.

Unless otherwise noted, workshops will be held from 8-11 a.m. Topics that will be covered this year:

  • The other side of FAFSA simplification
  • What happens after the FAFSA
  • Decoding financial aid offers
  • Covering college costs

MASFAP is happy to present at your next FAFSA event, FSA ID workshop, or financial aid showcase as a free service to you. Our members are engaged to serve all students without bias toward any particular institution. Click the button below to request a free speaker at your next event, and a MASFAP member will contact you.

While every effort will be made to find a suitable speaker for your event, MASFAP cannot guarantee that a member will be available.

Journey to College programs focus on helping students prepare for college:

  • Apply Missouri - helps students find the “best fit” for higher education and provides time during the school day for seniors to submit college applications and activities for underclassmen to generate excitement and create a college-going culture.
  • FAFSA Frenzy - provides free professional assistance to help students and their families submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid.
  • Decision Day - encourages seniors to finalize their plans for the future and celebrates their decision to attend college or enter the military.
  • J2C K-8 - helps students in elementary and middle school start thinking about future careers.

Presentations for college fairs and financial aid events

Customized presentations are available for Missouri high school counselors and community groups planning college fairs and financial aid events. To arrange for a speaker, complete the online Speaking Event Form. Topics include planning and paying for college, state and federal financial aid programs, and financial literacy topics.

Student website

The Journey to College student website includes information about planning for college, paying for college, and finishing a program of study. Tools and resources can be found about applying to college, finding their best fit, applying for financial aid, finding scholarships, learning about student loans, managing their money, tips to be successful during college, information about transferring colleges, and ways to finish their degree or certificate.
