Can you think of a newcomer to the industry (less than 5 years) who has already contributed great things to the profession? Also time is running out to nominate someone for the prestigious Missouri Award, which recognizes an individual from Missouri who has contributed to the field of financial aid. Thanks Gena for your comments! Yes this is going to be a great conference where we will spend some time honoring the late Bob Berger and those individuals who have been honored with the Newcomer Award in his name.

This is a pretty important year for the Bob Berger Newcomer Award, right? Correct me if I’m wrong, but I believe there’s going to be a dinner honoring Mr. Berger and recognizing all past recipients at the Fall Conference. I’m so excited to see many of the past recipients together in one place and to learn how they’ve had an impact on the organization and the industry since receiving their award.
To be considered for this award, each candidate must meet the following criteria:
-Be an Institutional MASFAP member who is a first time financial aid professional. This administrator must have been in the profession for less than five years (as of January 1).
-Have made outstanding contributions at the institutional, regional, state, and/or national levels
-Strive to keep students’ interest his/her first priority
-Be dedicated to providing professional development to others and for themselves to better assist students
-Give back to the financial aid community
-Demonstrate leadership by participating in and supporting student aid related activities and programs
