Calling All Super Heroes!

MASFAP Hero

The Program Committee is excited to welcome you to the annual conference November 11 -13. As always, the conference will held at the Lodge of Four Seasons Resort in Lake Ozark, MO. This year's theme is Find the HERO in You! The program committee has been hard at work planning sessions that will re-energize you, your office and your students! You will not want to miss out on this year's conference!  You'll have the chance to learn best practices, figure out how to maneuver a work/life balance, network with fellow financial aid professionals and most importantly addressing the hottest topics in financial aid.  The conference will be fun and filled with diverse sessions that range from updates on both state and federal aid, verification, and working with Millennials. There will also be evening activities to bring out the hero in you!

Our Keynote Speaker for this year's conference is Tevin Ali. Tevin is no stranger to struggles and setbacks. Born in Trinidad and raised by immigrant parents, his family had little wealth but valued education. After many years of saving, Tevin was the first in his family to attend college. By his own admission, he was not the best student, nor truly ready for college, and soon fell prey to an inner dialog that morphed into a sense of hopelessness. Tevin eventually dropped out of college believing he had failed himself and his family. Fortunately, hitting his lowest point allowed him to be highly receptive to change. Tevin overcame the fear that he would never be good enough, fought back against the perception of others, and has since been the first in his family to graduate college and serves as an incredible beacon of inspiration for others across the nation who also struggle in the face of adversity. He is a graduate of The John Hopkins University, earning his Master’s Degree in Biotechnology Enterprise and Entrepreneurship, and he earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Biological Sciences at Florida Atlantic University.

Other special guests include Zora Mulligan, J.D., Commissioner for the Missouri Department of Higher Education and Workforce Development, Leroy Wade, Deputy Commissioner for DHEWD, and David Bartlett, Training Officer with the U.S. Department of Education. The conference will be fruitful and filled with diverse sessions for both beginners and seasoned professions. There will also be great activities and time to connect with colleagues across the state.

Back by popular demand, if the Director at your institution pays and attends, all others from the institution will receive a free registration! Mark your calendars – we’ll see all of Missouri’s Financial Aid Super Heroes November 11-13!
